About Our Building
The beautiful building which houses Rockwell's Red Lion Restaurant was originally built for the First National Bank of Elizabeth. The new structures' doors were opened for business on October 23, 1906.
After weathering the depression of 1907 and steadily increasing its volume of business over the years, the bank suddenly and without warning, failed to open its doors for business on December 19, 1913.
Through the years following the bank closing, the building housed a drug store and, for a short time a second-hand store, then stood vacant.
The Rockwell family completly renovated the structure, and on May 14 1980, Rockwell's Red Lion Restaurant was open for business.
The Red Lion Restaurant has served the area from its beginnings with quality lunch, dinners and banquets at reasonable prices.
Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and other festive occasions have been celebrated in our lower level banquet room known as the "Lion's Den"
The Red Lion changes its menus perioiodically to carry many of the standard favorites, but gives our Chefs the opportunity to create many seasonal dishes.
The Red Lion and its staff will continue to strive to provide you with superb cuisine and excellent service in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

About Us
Being in the floral business for many years, eating out particularly during the busy holiday season was a regular occurrence for the Rockwell family.
Orrie & Norma often thought of opening a restaurant of their own.
Those thoughts started to become a reality in 1979 when the Cochenour & Miller Drug store building came to be for sale.
The building was purchased and with a lot of help from family and hiring contractors when necessary, what was once a bank building and later a drug store was transformed into what is now known as Rockwell's Red Lion Restaurant.
Tragedy along the way with the unexpected death of Norma, the dream was almost over. However after much thought, the decision was made by Orrie to forge ahead.
His daughter Lynn was graduating from high school and would be able to help and his second daughter Cee Cee would be graduating the following year.
So on May 14, 1980 Rockwell's opened its doors.
It served a need in the town with home style meals and breakfast and lunch being served daily.
However, Orrie had a son Orrie III that decided to go to Johnson & Wales Culinary school in Providence Rhode Island. Orrie graduated in 1988 and worked in the Pittsburgh area until 1992 when he joined the family.
With him came the expertise needed to upscale the restaurant from family style to the destination it is today.
